This was quite an exciting
event, as it always is. A fantastic
opportunity to see Canadian Designers display their talents.
Things had been changed up a little
compared to previous Events.
The venue remained the same,
but the layout inside the Event was change up a bit, which, I feel managed the
flow of people coming and going a lot smoother and easier.
Some sponsors had changed and
those that were there on the main floor, seemed to have scaled down on their
exhibitor space. All for the better in
Of course there was the usual
turn out of Photographers (myself included), Videographers and various press/media
And not to disappoint, there
was a very colourful and excited group of people there to people watch and to
flaunt their stuff and certainly not camera shy.
It made for a very
interesting and fun opportunity to participate in some great photo ops, both on
and off the Runway.
I must also mention the large
group of volunteers – so nice a friendly and all of the behind the scenes
people that made the Event come together – a Big Thank you!
I personally saw two shows on
the Thursday that I was there:
Triarchy set out on an
adventure to make the perfect pair of jeans. What grew from this is a brand
with a deep understanding and appreciation for the history and versatility of
denim. They then took their jeans and began to push boundaries. Exploring
textile mills and scouring for vintage pieces around the globe brought them
knowledge of new materials and old deconstruction techniques that would bind
elements of luxury to the denim they love so much. What exists now is Triarchy
Denim and introducing Triarchy Atelier Denim, a collection of jeans, jackets
and other items of intrigue that are all an adventure unto themselves.

Eponymous label, Hayley
Elsaesser has had a meteoric rise to global stardom since the label’s launch in
2013 as a fashion graduate of Queensland University of Technology. Clever cuts
show off high-octane prints, demonstrating the intricate and dynamic caliber of
Elsaesser’s brilliant and fun loving aesthetic, themselves a sartorial
imagining of pop culture. The adored womenswear label has since expanded to an
empire that also counts menswear and accessories as coveted components of the
brand. In two short years, the brand has secured leading stockists across the
US, Australia and Canada (including interest from Nasty Gal and Selfridges),
and a legion of celebrity fans.

These were both great shows,
very creative, inventive designs and the designers who created these items using,
fabrics and colours in very unique ways.
